授業の目的?内容 /Course Objectives |
This one-semester course is compulsory for second-year students. Overall Objectives 1. To increase academic vocabulary and to further the development of vocabulary/vocabulary building skills in general 2. To automatize more accurate grammatical knowledge and recognize cohesive devices 3. To develop a better understanding of various styles and purposes of reading material 4. To develop effective reading skills (intensive reading, extensive reading, etc.) 5. To introduce students to authentic texts/outside readers |

授業の形式?方法と履修上の注意 /Teaching method and Attention the course |
This course will be conducted in English. The lessons will alternate between take-home lessons and "real-time" lessons using Zoom. During Zoom lessons, students will work in small groups to discuss short stories, give short oral presentations, and do vocabulary building quiz games. Occasionally, other short reading texts will be used to supplement the textbook. | ||||||||||

Homework will be assigned on a regular basis. Students should plan on spending an average of 60 minutes each week on their reading, writing, and vocabulary assignments. | ||||||||||
