授業の目的?内容
/Course Objectives
The goal in the Writing Skills III course is to develop students’ writing and critical thinking abilities in English, progressing from production of shorter to longer academic texts, and from writing on familiar topics to writing about more complex and academic ones.
Overall Objectives
1. To provide an overview of what constitutes a ‘good’ essay
2. To help students understand various patterns of essay organization
3. To help students plan essays
4. To help students revise and edit their essays
5. To help students use a variety of sources
6. To help students develop computer literacy skills
7. To introduce the basics of referencing and creating a bibliography (MLA or APA styles)
授業の形式?方法と履修上の注意
/Teaching method and Attention the course
This is a writing class so the focus will be on writing tasks and essays. Students will submit a portfolio of revised essays at the end of the course for assessment. Writing tasks and reflections from the textbook and other sources will also be assessed. I will use PorTa II and webmail to begin with and later, depending on student access to the necessary equipment, zoom or Webex. In the case of zoom or Webex classes, student preparation and participation will be assessed.

Preview and review all materials given by the instructor before and after zoom or Webex classes and complete all tasks and essays.
It is important for students to correct their essays and resubmit them in their portfolio at the end of the course.
