授業の目的?内容 /Course Objectives |
This course is intended as a comprehensive survey of American history and culture, introducing students to the diversity of this large country. Materials to be used in class include documentaries, movies, songs, TV programs, audio recordings, primary sources, and other historical materials. The language used for the lectures will be college-level English. This course will start out with an introduction to pre-European North America, followed by the period through independence, with an introduction to various colonial powers. After that, we will look at how the United States developed as a nation, with emphasis placed on different ethnic groups and cities across the land. Technological innovation played a big part in America's development, so that will also be introduced. | ||||||||||

評価方法 /Evaluation |
Class performance (including pop quizzes) 20% State report 40% Final test (essay) 40% Tardiness over 30 minutes late will not be accepted. Three times tardy equals one absence. Four or more absences will likely disqualify students from getting credit. 4回以上の欠席は単位取得を困難にする。 |
