授業の目的?内容 /Course Objectives |
Films of Steven Spielberg. This course will focus on the films of Steven Spielberg, examining the life and legacy of one of the most successful directors in American cinema history. Spielberg’s works are closely linked with the rise of the Hollywood “blockbuster era”. They span genres and generations and provide an engaging lens into broader sociocultural and economic trends. Students will practice analyzing the themes, aesthetics, innovations and historic relevance of Spielberg’s films through screenings, readings and discussion. Key assignments include short film reviews and a movie poster presentation. Required hardware/software: Zoom, Slack, minimum system requirements to run both; microphone, webcam and headphones/speakers to participate in class meetings. |

Remote learning will include a combination of asynchronous readings, screenings, and assignments, followed by real-time dialogue and activities. Students screen assigned films and prepare readings, reviews, and short assignments before class. Students write independent essays on two films of their choice and give a final presentation. The following films are required for the class. Students must be able to access and watch these titles independently: Jaws, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark, E.T.. the Extra-Terrestrial, Jurassic Park. |
