□Content The purpose of this course is to allow the students to engage in and explore a variety of current issues in society □Reading & Discussion ?read and evaluate texts in social sciences and humanities ?express one’s opinions about the course topic in a discussion constructively □Writing & Presentations ?write a research paper on the course topic with appropriate citation (700-1,000 words + bibliography) ?make a visually aided presentation of the paper Class is taught and participated in English. |

In this class we … ?use Manaba (LMS) for presenting learning materials, collecting assignments, and giving feedback. ?periodically use Zoom or Webex to conduct bi-directional real-time classes. ?provide opportunities of exchanging opinions among students by introducing group work and peer reviews of oral/written products ?aim at higher learning efficiency by utilising learning materials distributed in advance in combination with real-time classes. |

1. The lessons will be conducted live online. You will need to use Zoom and you will need the Zoom app. It will be best if you have a personal computer and are able to connect to wifi. Information for the Zoom online live class will be posted on Manaba. So check the site regularly. 2. Read textbook units or other assigned readings and complete all assignments before beginning of the following class. Students are also expected to work on the research paper throughout the term. |
