授業の目的?内容 /Course Objectives |
This course will examine various comparison theories and methods of comparison when studying societies and cultures. So-called "Pillars of Society" will be discussed and topics and themes found within these pillars will be introduced. Students will gain an understanding of the importance of comparative studies and how they can be utilized in their future studies. | ||||||||||

授業の形式?方法と履修上の注意 /Teaching method and Attention the course |
This course will be lecture-based. Students will be asked to actively participate in small group discussions within the classroom and share and exchange ideas with each other. Interactive media as well as various types of visual materials will be included to help engage students in the classroom. This course will be conducted in English. Zoom will be used for lectures and students will be required to do independent research on a specific country or culture for the duration of the term. |

Students will be given supplemental readings for the main themes introduced in the class. Vocabulary worksheets will be given to students prior to the lectures, and reflection sheets will be collected after each lecture. | ||||||||||
