The course aims to advance students' knowledge of German-speaking countries while developing their general academic English skills. It is a content-based course that will integrate all four language skills: reading, writing, listening and speaking. | ||||||||||

Students will explore various aspects (history, economics / business, and politics) of German-speaking countries by participating in class activities such as reading articles from magazines and newspapers, listening to lectures and interviews, writing short reports, and giving presentations. Activities will be either done in person in the classroom, or online using on-demand materials. All class activities will be conducted in English: (Minimum TOEIC score required = 450) |

Students will be responsible for completing assignments related to the course content. Generally, students can expect to spend approximately 1 hour per week on these assignments. In the middle and at the end of the semester students will prepare presentations. This will likely involve several hours of study time spread out over 2 or 3 weeks. | ||||||||||
