授業の目的?内容 /Course Objectives |
This one-semester course is compulsory for second-year students. Overall Objectives 1. To increase academic vocabulary and to further the development of vocabulary/vocabulary building skills in general 2. To automatize more accurate grammatical knowledge 3. To develop comprehension skills for reading materials across different genres and topics. 4. To develop effective reading skills & deciphering academic texts (intensive reading, extensive reading, using visual/lexical & grammatical cues in academic texts). 5. To continue to develop reading strategies to read authentic texts/outside readers. 6. To recognize how authors use in-text citations, direct quotations and referencing. |

While this is a reading class, a lot of emphasis will be on student discussion of the readings as well as their writing. There is an active element to the course and therefore it is extremely important that students prepare by reading the material for the class and are prepared to speak actively in English in class. | ||||||||||
