1. To help students understand the typical structure of a ‘good’ essay 2. To help students understand (genre-specific) patterns of essay organization 3. To help students plan essays 4. To help students use a variety of references and utilize Internet sources 5. To help students revise and edit their essays 6. To help students develop computer literacy skills 7. To help students become more familiar with referencing and creating a bibliography (MLA or APA styles) |

授業の形式?方法と履修上の注意 /Teaching method and Attention the course |
The class will have many drills and activities (including constant feedback) on their written work. Activities include journal writing, research, reading, essay writing and editing, peer feedback, extension activities. Ideally, one chapter from the text will be studied each week. The first part of each class will be used for reading, lecture, and analysis of the text material. This will be followed by reviewing and working on an example as a class. For the remainder of the class students will be given an in-class exercise to complete and submit. Note that the teaching method, text material covered, and assessment style may change due to the demands of the ongoing health situation. Updated and more detailed information will be provided in the first class. |
