授業の目的?内容 /Course Objectives |
The goal in the Writing Skills III course is to develop students’ writing and critical thinking abilities in English, progressing from production of shorter to longer academic texts, and from writing on familiar topics to writing about more complex and academic ones. Overall Objectives 1. To provide an overview of what constitutes a ‘good’ essay 2. To help students understand various patterns of essay organization 3. To help students plan essays 4. To help students revise and edit their essays 5. To help students use a variety of sources 6. To help students develop computer literacy skills 7. To introduce the basics of referencing and creating a bibliography (MLA or APA styles) |

授業の形式?方法と履修上の注意 /Teaching method and Attention the course |
Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, this course will be taught online, on demand without any synchronous lessons. Students will have learnt the skills of paragraph format & basic essay composition by the end of their first year of English writing study. This course will guide students in the skills of research paper composition from topic choice, through research techniques, to presentation of data, outline, peer review & final submission. The selected textbook provides a step-by-step approach to this process, with a clear focus in each chapter, to be supplemented by regular writing assignments set as homework. |
