授業の目的?内容 ／Course Objectives	Students will continue to develop their listening and speaking skills in this course, with the main focus of developing listening skills and strategies. In order to accomplish this, weekly topics will be introduced so students can continue to build their vocabulary and use idiomatic phrases correctly. Listening practices will focus on various topics relevant to today's global society. Students will also be exposed to different speaking and listening strategies and exercises used in various qualification examinations.
授業の形式?方法と履修上の注意 ／Teaching method and Attention the course	This course will be learner-centered and active in nature. Students will spend the majority of the class time in doing pair work speaking and listening activities. Students will be expected to give presentations on various topics throughout the term. *In order to ensure the safety and health of both instructor and students, more emphasis on listening strategies will be placed in the classroom.  Time will be given to each student to work individually with the instructor in a safe environment throughout the term. **Voice recognition software as well as on-line supplementary activities will be used by the students. **EDMODO.COM will be used for supplementary materials and quizzes.
事前?事後学修の内容 ／Before After Study	Students will be expected to expand their vocabulary and focus on individual speaking exercises outside of the classroom.  Activities for vocabulary expansion, grammar review, as well as listening practice will be assigned each week through the publisher's online supplementary activities and review.

評価方法 ／Evaluation	Students will be assessed on weekly conversation tasks, homework, reflection sheets and vocabulary quizzes (50%), mid-term assessment (25%), and end-term assessment (25%). On-line assignments will be given each week.  Students will be expected to complete these tasks for successful completion of the course.

1	Orientation, Course Guidelines, Summer Memories	Students will review the syllabus and talk in pairs and groups about their summer holidays.	Students will review vocabulary for Unit 7: Food and Drink.
2	Unit 7:Food and Drink	Students will learn about food and drink customs in various cultures.	Students will examine SDG #2.
3	The Environment of Food	Students will work on explaining rules, with a focus on food customs.	Students will complete all online tasks for Unit 7 and prepare vocabulary for Unit 8: Travel.
4	Unit 8: Travel	Students will examine different ways to talk about travel and promote tours.	Students will review TOEIC Speaking exam strategies.
5	Descriptions	Students will work on describing various photos of tourists around the world	Students will complete all online tasks for Unit 8 and prepare vocabulary for Unit 9: Education.
6	Unit 9:  Education	Emphasis on "follow up questions" will be the focus of this lesson.	Students will review how to ask various questions as well as follow-up questions.
7	Mid-term Assessment	Oral and written mid-assessments will be conducted.	Students will complete all online tasks for Unit 9 and prepare vocabulary for Unit 10:  Health.
8	Unit 10: Health	Students will work on giving advice with the use of modals.	Students will review how to give advice and opinions in various situations.
9	What do you think?	Students will examine different ways of giving advice and stating their opinions.	Students will complete all online tasks for Unit 10 and prepare vocabulary for Unit 11.
10	Unit 11: Numbers and Prices	Students will practice saying large numbers.	Students will review big numbers.
11	Statistics, graphs, data	Students will practice using big numbers and describing statistics, graphs and data.	Students will complete all online tasks for Unit 11 and prepare vocabulary for Unit 12: People.
12	Unit 12: People	Students will practice ways to sympathize and empathize with others in English.	Students will begin to review  material covered in the course.
13	Verbal and Non-verbal communication	Skills used in various SNS platforms will be discussed.	Students will complete all online tasks for Unit 12 and prepare for their final assessment.
14	Consolidation and Assement	Oral and written end-term assessments will be conducted.	Students will continue to develop the skills acquired in the course through listening activities.
