授業の目的?内容
/Course Objectives
This class will give you many opportunities to improve your skills and raise your confidence in speaking English in academic contexts. You will learn and practice communication strategies that will help you to share your ideas with your partners and to express yourself more clearly and naturally. Through listening practice and conversations with your classmates, you will also develop your listening skills. In class you will try to speak only in English, and will help your partners to do the same.

Classes will be taught though Video on demand, online assignments, MAINLY through MyDOC and face to face campus lessons.

/Before After Study
1 Week 1 Course orientation and introduction/Review of the spring semester. Learners prepare for a short interaction speech and Q&A session with course mates.
2 Week 2: Unit 9 Discuss topical issues related to women in our society. Prepare for role play activities on women in our society.
3 Week 3: Unit 10 The developing world - problems and the way forward. Students prepare to give a short presentation on a chosen developing country of their choice.
4 Week 4: Unit 10 Short presentations on any chosen developing country and a Q & A session. Review unit 10 and preview unit 11.
5 Week 5: Unit 12 Discuss politics and how it affects young adults. Learners research related vocabulary and expressions related to politics.
6 Week 6: Unit 12 Discuss topical issues related to world politics and our society. Review discussion strategies.
7 Mid-term Presentations Oral and written mid-semester assessment will be conducted. Review of units 9, 10 and 12and preview of unit 13.
8 Week 8: Unit 13 Discuss topical issues related to our local economy. Learners research related vocabulary and expressions related with economics.
9 Week 9: Unit 13 Discuss topical issues related to the global economy. Learners research related vocabulary and expressions related with global economics.
10 Week 10: Unit 14 Discuss what happiness is and why it matters to us and make a short speech on course mates ideas. Preview/review using hypothetical questions using ‘would’.
11 Week 11: Unit 14 Reporting others’ ideas and describing and giving opinions. Preview/review using hypothetical questions using ‘would you ever …’.
12 Week 12: Unit 15 Globalization: Is it a curse or a blessing? Preview/review using result clause with ‘so’.
13 Week 13: Final Assessment A final presentation will be held. Prepare for the final presentation.
14 Week 14:Review and Feed back session Learners will have a feedback session and a review of the semester. Learners will continue to develop the skills acquired os far and prepare for the Fall semester.
