授業の目的?内容
/Course Objectives
This course aims to develop students’ ability to comprehend academically-oriented lectures, in addition to interviews and discussions, from a variety of different fields. In order to accomplish this, students will build their academic vocabulary, practice effective note-taking strategies, learn about how lectures are typically organized, and develop their critical thinking skills.

/Teaching method and Attention the course
In addition to actually listening to various lectures, interviews, and discussions, pre- and post-listening activities such as group and pairwork, short presentations, and writing assignments will also be undertaken. All class activities will be conducted in English, and students will be expected to participate actively.

/Before After Study
Before class, students will be expected to prepare for discussions and other activities. After class, they will be asked to reflect on what they learned in class and write summaries of or reactions to the material.

/Before After Study
1 Introduction / Review The instructor will go over the syllabus and provide a review of last semester's material Students will prepare materials to start the semester.
2 Unit  5 Economics (cooperative businesses) Students will listen to a talk about a cooperative business. Students will watch an online video about NGOs.
3 Economics (electricity for developing countries) Students will watch a video about light for India's villages. Students will organize their notes.
4 Economics (social responsibility) Students will listen to a meeting about social responsibility. Students will write their opinions about a listening passage.
5 Unit 6 Design (the role of design) Students will listen to a guest lecture about design. Students will learn new note-taking strategies and practice them.
6 Self assembly Students will watch a video about designing the future. Students will watch online videos and prepare to discuss them.
7 The design process Students will listen to a conversation with a teaching assistant about the design process. Students will give their opinions about a conversation.
8 Environmental science (environmental fatigue) Students will listen to a podcast about the environment. Students will read about the environment.
9 Environmental science (humans & the environment) Student will watch a video about conservation. Students will do research about a singer.
10 Environmental science (children & the environment) Students will listen to a talk about the environment. Students will read a newspaper article.
11 Unit 8 Health sciences (medicines) Students will listen to a lecture about plant-based medicines. Students will brainstorm ideas about home remedies.
12 Health sciences (animal self-medication) Students will listen to a talk about wild health. Students will watch online videos.
13 Health sciences (prosthetic devices) Students will listen to a podcast about prosthetic devices. Students will read about advances in medicine.
14 Consolidation and assessment Students will do a brief review of the semester's material and complete a final assessment. Students can gauge the level of their listening skills and study independently based on that.
