This one-term, twice-a-week required class helps first-year students to learn how to improve their English language communication skills by introducing the organizational skills necessary to become a more competent public-speaker and writer Overall Objectives 1. To help students develop a basic knowledge of the skills required for creating presentations 2. To give students maximum opportunities to develop their writing and presentation delivery skills 3. To build student confidence in speech communication from small to larger group contexts This course focuses on improving students’ "listening" and "speaking" skills and their "competence to think critically in English as well as hold discussions in English, without using Japanese," as DP 2. We follow a process-based methodology staged in 5 distinct steps: in-class for the first presentation out-of-class for the second and third presentations We focus on organized writing using the structure of the classical 5-paragraph essay Feedback is given directly in-class, via Manaba Forum/Assignments, and rubrics |

評価方法 /Evaluation |
The only criterion for evaluation in this CE II course is the preparation, practice, and performance of 3 presentations: each presentation will be assessed using a rubric which objectively measures both content and delivery this rubric gives clear feedback on a student's strengths and weaknesses and yields a percentage score the average of three presentations' percentage scores will then yield students' overall grades for the course |
