授業の目的?内容
/Course Objectives
This one-semester course is compulsory for first-year students.
Overall Objectives
1.To increase their vocabulary
2.To review grammar
3.To develop basic reading skills & strategies
4.To understand how various texts are organized

This course focuses on improving students’ "vocabulary," "grammar" and "reading" skills, as stated in DP, 2.
Overall objectives are for them to acquire the basics of "written receptive skills," as stated in the CP.
授業の形式?方法と履修上の注意
/Teaching method and Attention the course
Students will develop their reading skills while learning about key issues in the 21st century. The course also focuses on improving students' communication skills, in addition to expanding their vocabulary and grammatical knowledge. Students will be able to complete their own outside readings and help their classmates learn more about the themes and topics. Students will be given opportunities to actively engage with more challenging texts as part of their mini research projects.

This course will continue the learning students began in Reading Strategies I.

This is a face to face course. Classes will take place on campus. You have to attend the first class on campus. We may use Zoom during the semester if necessary, depending on the situation.

/Before After Study
Students will read about and discuss the state of the world in 2022. Reading will be a way for students to discover more about the world while developing their readings skills and strategies. Students will also practice their reading skills at home by doing their own outside readings every week and sharing what they learn with their classmates.
