授業の目的?内容
/Course Objectives
This course will be conducted IN PERSON in principle. Although it will be possible to also use Zoom and
On Demand due to the Corona situation. Please use Manaba "Course News" (under "Courses") to get
updates.

This one-term semi-elective course aims to further develop and build on language communication skills covered in Comprehensive English I/II and Reading Strategies I/II. The prerequisites for the Communication

Overall Objectives
1. Giving students maximum opportunity to practice and develop their communication skills;
2. To improve reading comprehension via critical analysis of text;
3. To foster student responsibility by involving students more directly in the learning process;
授業の形式?方法と履修上の注意
/Teaching method and Attention the course
Activities: Text copy handouts, English Conversation Practice handouts, Discussion tests, Debate tests,
graded readers. Use of handouts, textbook and short lectures, including student activities. Students will read
and report on two Graded Readers that can be obtained from the university library. In addition, it is encouraged that students bring their laptop computers to class as some homework assignments and email from teacher can be used online. This will improve the overall quality of the class time. When students are given various
types of assignments during the course, feedback will be provided by offering general comments
to the entire class when positive or negative patterns among students can be detected; consultations with
individual students after important assignments for brief critique; written comments from the teacher on the
paper either by email or on hard copy. If students have questions about their grade they are always free to
enquire with the teacher.

/Before After Study
Please apportion your weekly homework tasks according to a 90 minute timetable. Carefully read the instructed
portion of the textbook beforehand and make a note of important details. Read the specified portion of the
assignment or textbook as preparation for each class, and be aware of the meaning of any specialized
terminology. As review for each class, reread any parts of the assignmentthat you had difficulty with and ask your peers or the teacher for help when needed without hesitation.
