授業の目的?内容
/Course Objectives
The goal of this course is to learn to use language and communication skills for persuading and influencing others about current topics that affect society. A secondary goal is to improve reading comprehension and analysis of those current topics. The class will also emphasize developing presentation and critical thinking skills.


授業の形式?方法と履修上の注意
/Teaching method and Attention the course
Most of class time will be devoted to the discussion of reading materials. Students will be expected to be active and participate in a variety of speaking situations—in pairs, small groups, with the teacher, and before the class. Once during the semester, each student will have to lead a  
small group discussion. Students will also give one multimedia presentation to the class in a debate style format.
