授業の目的?内容 /Course Objectives |
Grounded in recent scholarship in psychological, educational and intercultural studies, this course is aimed at helping students to gain a global perspective of study abroad and develop further their intercultural competence and confidence as a learner of the English language. This aim is consistent with the curriculum policy set by English Department that stresses the development of social responsibility as a global/international citizen into students. Topics to be covered include but are not limited to: globalisation and international student mobility; personal and professional impact of study abroad; culture shock; study shock; racism and discrimination; personal growth and transformation; global jinzai (human resources); and online education. | ||||||||||

The medium of instruction is English, but Japanese is used, as needed, to supplement the course content. The workload is heavy and comparable to international standards. 【アクティブ?ラーニングの手法に基づき、ManabaとZoomをフルに活用した学習者中心の授業を行います。受講生が提出する全ての課題において、受講生間のピア?アセスメントまたは教員によるフィードバックが行われます。毎週約4時間の事前?事後学修が必要です。リーディング、ライティング、ディスカッション、プレゼンテーションなど、こなさなければならない課題は多いですが、(世界で通用する)高度な学力?英語力を身に着けるための「通過点」として本講義をご利用いただければ幸いです。本講義は原則として英語で行いますが、講義内容を補足するため適宜日本語も使用します。教材?資料はほぼ全てが英語です。】 |

評価方法 /Evaluation |
Students are expected to demonstrate a concrete and conceptual understanding of given topics or a topic of their choice about study abroad. A final grade will be given based on four components: (1) five short (200-word) essays (30%); (2) individual/group Pecha Kucha presentation (20%); (3) individual final (1,000-word) essay (30%); and (4) peer-feedback (20%). | ||||||||||
