授業の目的?内容 /Course Objectives |
Myths are a part of every culture in the world and are used to explain nature, the origin of people and the world, as well as explain why certain life events happen. Mythology has played an important role part in every civilization throughout the world. In this course you will learn about Greek, Roman, Norse and African pantheons, warrior women, mythical creatures and tricksters, heroes and their adventures, mythical places (caves, gardens and mountains), as well as mythical language and idioms. The students will: understand the role of mythology in a culture recognize the similarities and differences among major cultures’ mythology understand the effects mythology has on modern literature understand the relationship between literature, history, and mythology Identify characteristics of myths, folktales, and fairy tales. Identify the purposes of myths Compare the different types of folklore: legends, folktales, and fairy tales. |
