授業の目的?内容 /Course Objectives |
This course will explore the idea that words are not simply independent units of language; they also combine closely or frequently with other words to form collocations (e.g., "make a suggestion," "circle of friends," "marked improvement"). We will look at collocations from both a theoretical and a practical perspective, considering questions such as: Why does the use of collocations help us to communicate more naturally and efficiently? What do dictionaries and language corpora tell us about collocations? How can foreign-language learners learn to use collocations effectively? The main aims of this course are for students to: 1) gain an understanding of key concepts and themes in collocation research, and 2) improve their ability to recognize and use English collocations. |
