This one-semester course is compulsory for first-year students. Overall Objectives 1．To increase their vocabulary 2．To review grammar 3．To develop basic reading skills & strategies 4．To understand how various texts are organized This course focuses on improving students’ "vocabulary," "grammar" and "reading" skills, as stated in DP, 2. Overall objectives are for them to acquire the basics of "written receptive skills," as stated in the CP. |

授業の形式?方法と履修上の注意 ／Teaching method and Attention the course |
This course will be taught in English. Students are expected not only to attend but also to contribute to the classroom through exercises, activities, and discussions. Students will acquire skills to comprehend reading various texts and topics and expand their vocabulary and understanding of the context. This course will be offered in person, otherwise indicated by the instructor. The class might switch to online, depending on the situation. Students may receive permission to attend remotely, depending on their individual circumstances. Each student is responsible for purchasing the textbook assigned in class. |
