授業の目的?内容 /Course Objectives |
The goal in the Writing Skills III course is to develop students’ writing and critical thinking abilities in English, progressing from production of shorter to longer academic texts, and from writing on familiar topics to writing about more complex and academic ones. Overall Objectives 1. To provide an overview of what constitutes a ‘good’ essay 2. To help students understand various patterns of essay organization 3. To help students plan essays 4. To help students revise and edit their essays 5. To help students use a variety of sources 6. To help students develop computer literacy skills 7. To introduce the basics of referencing and creating a bibliography (MLA or APA styles) |

This lecture course will be conducted face-to-face. The course follows on from Writing Skills I and II. The work for this course is all written and will be submitted online through manaba. Feedback will be provided either face-to-face in class or through manaba, depending on the circumstances at the time. |

Work quantities will vary throughout the semester. The required work before and after the classes will be as such: Reading textbook sections indicated by the teacher, checking difficult vocabulary and completing any tasks indicated in the textbook or requested by the teacher. (1-2 hours) Researching required information for composition of essays. (2-4 hours) Writing essays. (2-4 hours) Answering questions about other students' work in peer review (2 hours) Reviewing and improving work. (2 hours) |
