授業の目的?内容 /Course Objectives |
This one-semester course is compulsory for second-year students. Overall Objectives 1. To increase academic vocabulary and to further the development of vocabulary/vocabulary building skills in general 2. To automatize more accurate grammatical knowledge and recognize cohesive devices 3. To develop a better understanding of various styles and purposes of reading material 4. To develop effective reading skills (intensive reading, extensive reading, etc.) 5. To introduce students to authentic texts/outside readers |

Fulfills DP Requirement #2 (Copy/Pasted English Translation from Dokkyo University Website: Regarding English proficiency, acquire comprehensive English skills such as vocabulary, grammar, writing, reading, listening, and speaking, and the ability to think logically and discuss English materials in English Active learning Discussion Heavy communicative style class teaching based on Readings from the Textbook (all in English) Google Classroom will be used Essays / Discussion / and Projects with an Oral Requirement – assignments as well as substantive reading and notetaking Some Group Work is required in Discussion and Projects |

Reading from the textbook/ notetaking / occasional project work and writing assignments Organize your notes after class. Look up any terms you do not understand so that you can explain them to others. In addition, re-read any works that come up in lectures or discussions (2 hours)(Copy/Pasted from 2023 Dokkyo Academic Course Guidelines) Be sure to read the specified portion of the textbook as preparation for each class, and be aware of the meaning of any specialized terminology (2 hours) |
