This one-term required class allows second-year students the opportunity to take the initiative and be directly involved in their own learning, as well as the learning of their classmates, by preparing their own presentation and leading subsequent class discussion based on the chosen topic. Overall Objectives 1. To foster student responsibility by involving students more directly in the learning process 2. To teach students how to prepare presentations 3. To give all students the opportunity to give a presentation and lead class discussion |

This class will be online via Zoom for the first part of the semester. This is a dynamic interactive English class. There is no textbook for this class because there will be specially made teacher handouts for you to use.You should download and print out a copy of the handouts to bring to the lessons. There are many opportunities in this class for discussion and speaking practice with pair and group work. In this class you need to bring a laptop computer or tablet computer to each lesson. In addition, be sure to have earphones or headphones handy, too. Be sure all devices are fully charged when the lesson starts. BE SURE TO ATTEND ALL THE LESSONS. If you miss a lesson, it is your responsibility to find out what you missed and catch up with any notes from the lessons and any homework set or other things you need to do. | ||||||||||

Students need to prepare for lessons, do homework and review lessons. Carefully go over the points covered in the handout paying particular regard to any new vocabulary (15-minutes). Go over and organise your notes on the lesson and review and prepare for any assignment mentioned in the class (45-minutes). Depending on your pace, you may take more time to complete your studies each week. ABSENCE IS NO EXCUSE FOR MISSING ANY OF YOUR STUDY. |

評価方法 /Evaluation |
Teacher Points (Based on Effort) = 100 x 10% = 10 Class Handouts, vocabulary test and quizzes = 100 x 15% = 30 Weekly Reading Logs = 100 x 30% = 30 Final Oral Tests = 100 x 30% = 30 Several class handouts will be studied and they will receive points rounded to a percentage. In addition to this, regular vocabulary tests will be given in class. The average of these points will be 30% of your final grade. Each week weekly reading reports based on a cyber listening website will be undertaken. This will be awarded points out of 100. 30% of that will go towards your grade. At the end of the semester, there will be an oral examination in small groups whereby students are expected to discuss issues covered in the class. Points out of 100 will be awarded for that and 30% of this will go towards your final grade. Finally, if you make your best efforts and participate well in all the lessons and do all the assignments 10% of 100 points will be awarded to your final grade. |
