授業の目的?内容 /Course Objectives |
This course focuses on students ’"listening" and "speaking" skills and their "competence to think critically in English as well as hold discussions in English, without using Japanese," as stated in DP 2. Overall objectives are for students "to obtain comprehensive English proficiency" and "to engage in logical discussions using English," as stated in the CP. | ||||||||||

授業の形式?方法と履修上の注意 /Teaching method and Attention the course |
We will use a textbook which focuses on a sampler of academic disciplines. We will finish a unit each week. The tasks include spoken summaries of short readings, note-taking from short lectures, learning compressed forms in spoken English, critical thinking discussions, and vocabulary definitions. We will supplement the text with authentic listening and speaking materials. We will be regularly reflecting on how these activities will be useful to prepare to be better language teachers in the future. | ||||||||||

Students will prepare for a listening and vocabulary quiz from the previous week. They will preview the coming unit, and occasionally listen to supplementary sources. (2~4 hours). |
