授業の目的?内容
/Course Objectives
The goal in the Writing Skills I course is to develop students’ writing and critical thinking abilities in English, progressing from production of shorter to longer academic texts, and from writing on familiar topics to writing about more complex and academic ones.

Overall Objectives
1. To provide an overview of what constitutes a ‘good’ essay
2. To help students understand various patterns of essay organization
3. To help students plan essays
4. To help students revise and edit their essays
5. To help students use a variety of sources
6. To help students develop computer literacy skills
7. To introduce the basics of referencing and creating a bibliography (MLA or APA styles)

This course focuses on improving students’ "vocabulary," "grammar" and "writing" skills, as stated in DP 2. Overall objectives are for them to acquire the basics of "written productive skills," as stated in the CP.
授業の形式?方法と履修上の注意
/Teaching method and Attention the course
One chapter from the text will be studied over two weeks. The first part of each class will be used for reviewing and checking the previously assigned homework assignments together.  This will be followed by reading and analysis of the text material. For the remainder of the class students will be given an in-class exercise to complete. Note that the teaching method, text material covered, and assessment style may change due to to the student's progression and any other changing circumstances.

Read textbook units or other handouts all assignments before beginning of the following class. After class, Students are required to do all homework tasks set. Students can expect to spend about 90 minutes per
week in preparation.
