授業の目的?内容 /Course Objectives |
The goal in the Writing Skills III course is to develop students’ writing and critical thinking abilities in English, progressing from production of shorter to longer academic texts, and from writing on familiar topics to writing about more complex and academic ones. Overall Objectives 1. To provide an overview of what constitutes a ‘good’ essay 2. To help students understand various patterns of essay organization 3. To help students plan essays 4. To help students revise and edit their essays 5. To help students use a variety of sources 6. To help students develop computer literacy skills 7. To introduce the basics of referencing and creating a bibliography (APA style) This course focuses on improving students’ "vocabulary," "grammar" and "writing" skills, as stated in DP 2. Overall objectives are for them to acquire the basics of "written productive skills," as stated in the CP. |

授業の形式?方法と履修上の注意 /Teaching method and Attention the course |
One focus topic/skill will be studied each week. The first part of each class will be used for introduction, explanation and exploration. This will be followed by relevant application of skills to tasks. Updated and more detailed information will be provided in the first class. Feedback will be provided by a score and comments for each written evaluation item given during the course. Must have a PC with access to the internet, Microsoft Word/PowerPoint for every lesson throughout the course. |

Students should prepare before each lesson by completing assigned homework / tasks (30-60 minutes). Students should review lesson notes after each lesson and ensure all classwork is complete (30-60 minutes). | ||||||||||
