授業の目的?内容
/Course Objectives
The goal of this course is to learn to use language and communication skills for persuading and influencing others about current topics that affect society. A secondary goal is to improve reading comprehension and analysis of those current topics. The class will also emphasize developing presentation and critical thinking skills.


授業の形式?方法と履修上の注意
/Teaching method and Attention the course
Most of class time will be devoted to the discussion of current topic reading materials. Students will be expected to be active and participate in a variety of speaking situations—in pairs, small groups, with the teacher, and before the class. Once during the semester, each student will have to choose a suitable topic, prepare presentation materials and lead a small group discussion. Students will also prepare for and give one multimedia presentation to the class in a debate style format.
