授業の目的?内容 /Course Objectives |
Grounded in recent scholarship in psychological, educational and intercultural studies, this course is aimed at helping students to gain a global perspective of study abroad and develop further their intercultural competence and confidence as a learner of the English language. This aim is consistent with the curriculum policy set by English Department that stresses the development of social responsibility as a global/international citizen into students. Topics to be covered include but are not limited to: globalisation and international student mobility; personal and professional impact of study abroad; culture shock; study shock; racism and discrimination; personal growth and transformation; global jinzai (human resources); and online education. | ||||||||||

1. The medium of instruction is English. 2. The workload is comparable to international standards. Approximately four hours of independent study or cooperative learning with other students outside class are required each week. 3. A learner-centred approach to teaching and learning with full use of Manaba is used throughout the course. All work submitted by students is subject to peer feedback and/or teacher assessment. 4. International/exchange students are welcome to take this course because they may find it relevant and valuable. |

評価方法 /Evaluation |
Students are expected to demonstrate a concrete and conceptual understanding of given topics or a topic of their choice about study abroad. A final grade will be given based on four components: (1) four very short (200-word) essays (20%); (2) Group Pecha Kucha presentation (40%); (3) individual final (1,000-word) essay (30%); and (4) contributions to class (10%). | ||||||||||
