授業の目的?内容
/Course Objectives
This one-term, once-a-week required class for first-year students aims to develop students' communication skills and to equip them with the essential language skills required to engage with academic content and with their classmates at university. The course will give students ample opportunities to practice participating in class, contributing to group discussions, and developing their overall communication skills.

Overall Objectives
1. to give students experience participating and expressing their ideas in class.
2. to give students experience expressing themselves using content-based materials.
3. to help students understand and communicate effectively about specific academic content
4. to foster collaborative skills through group discussions and conversations.
授業の形式?方法と履修上の注意
/Teaching method and Attention the course
This course focuses on 2 main areas; talking about yourself and communicating in academic environments. First, the course will help you to talk about yourself and develop useful communication techniques when interacting with others. Second, the course will help you to develop your academic communication skills such as working in groups, leading a discussion, giving feedback etc. The course will improve your skills and confidence when communicating with others in English.

This is a face to face course. Classes will take place on campus.

There are no special applications required.

/Before After Study
Most of the activities will be conducted within the 100-minute class period. When homework is assigned, students are expected to complete it fully by the deadline. Students will contribute to a weekly reflective journal about the skills they develop on the course.
