授業の目的?内容
/Course Objectives
This course focuses on improving students' fundamental presentation skills by focusing on their physical message, and visual message, as well as content/speech organizational skills. Goals include giving students practical experience in utilizing their own physical message by emphasizing the importance of eye contact, posture, gestures, voice volume, voice inflection, and facial expressions when giving a presentation and facing an audience; giving students experience in using visual representation within their presentation, with special emphasis on using charts and/ or graphs; building student confidence in speech communication in large and small contexts; and helping students develop a basic knowledge of organizing a speech and developing speech writing skills.
授業の形式?方法と履修上の注意
/Teaching method and Attention the course
Classes will be conducted in a workshop style where students immediately put new knowledge into practice. The instruction is task-based, meaning students learn English by completing real-world tasks in English. The teaching style is communicative, so students should come prepared to practice speaking. It’s also designed to increase critical thinking skills, so students should come prepared to think in creative ways.

Students will complete some homework assignments before class in the beginning of the course. Later students will spend time preparing short presentations and practicing them.
