To develop academic reading and writing skills. To learn to use a range of reading strategies. To write clear and logical sentences and paragraphs using appropriate academic style and structure. To produce two essays in argumentative style. To use and.develop critical thinking skills. To expand academic vocabulary knowledge.

Detailed instruction and guidance to assist students in reading a range of academic texts. Pair and group work in discussing readings and ideas and peer editing of written work.
