授業の目的?内容 /Course Objectives |
Overall objectives: 1. Students write an argumentative essay in English with an introduction, body paragraphs and a conclusion. 2. Students will learn the the important parts of an essay such as a hook sentence, thesis statement, and topic sentences. 3. Students will learn to develop ideas logically and effectively in paragraphs. 4. Students will support arguments with relevant information. 5. Students will become familiar with various styles of English academic writing. 6. Students will receive guidance on essay writing process, from planning, to drafting, and revising. 7. Students will have opportunities to give and receive feedback. 8. Students will have opportunities to practice timed-essay writing such as tests for TOEFL or IELTS. |

授業の形式?方法と履修上の注意 /Teaching method and Attention the course |
This course will be held face to face in the classroom of the campus. The first half of the textbook will be used in the spring semester. Students will study vocabulary for academic topics and participate in class discussions with classmates. Students will write, edit and rewrite essays. Student will be introduced to reading skills. They will read a short story and submit a report on it. |

Students are expected to spend: - 30 minutes before class studying vocabulary or reading to prepare for class. -30 minutes after class writing, revising or reading assignments. |
