授業の目的?内容
/Course Objectives
In this one-semester Communication Skills course students develop their persuasive and communicative language skills. Students taking this course should feel confident that they have the ability to communicate opinions, and logical reasoning effectively in English. All students have pair discussions about the questions.

This course focuses on students’ "listening" and "speaking" skills and their "competence to think critically in English as well as hold discussions in English, without using Japanese," as stated in DP 2. Overall objectives are for students "to obtain comprehensive English proficiency" and "to engage in logical discussions using English," as stated in the CP.
授業の形式?方法と履修上の注意
/Teaching method and Attention the course
This course will involve reading, discussing, and reporting news articles that students choose themselves. Each student gives an oral report of  two or three news articles during the semester to their classmates and leads discussion based on questions they have prepared. Questions should promote opinion giving and logical reasoning. Students receive instruction in how to give their news reports. There are example news reports. Students then decide the content of the classes as they choose the news articles for discussion. as they choose the news articles for discussion.
