授業の目的?内容 /Course Objectives |
This one term, semi-elective course aims to further develop and build on language skills covered in Comprehensive English I/II and Reading Strategies I/II. The prerequisites for the Communication Skills class are Comprehensive English I/II and Reading Strategies I/II or a TOEIC score of 600 or above. Overall Objectives 1.Giving students maximum opportunity to practice and develop their communication skills. 2.To improve reading comprehension via critical analysis of texts. 3.To foster student responsibility by involving students more directly in the learning process. 4.To foster the presentation of one`s own ideas. |

授業の形式?方法と履修上の注意 /Teaching method and Attention the course |
The Instructor will use the Lecture method and have the students be interactive using pair work, group work, and discussion activities.One chapter from the text will be studied each week. The first part of each class will be used for reading and analysis of the text material. This will be followed by reviewing and checking the homework assignments together. For the remainder of the class students will be given an in-class exercise to complete. Note that the teaching method, text material covered, and assessment style may change due to the demands of the ongoing health situation. Updated and more detailed information will be provided in the first class. | ||||||||||

Students are expected to spend 90 minutes each to preview and review course content and I recommend that they read English newspaper articles and watch BBC or CNN news programs. | ||||||||||
