授業の目的?内容
/Course Objectives
This course focuses on students ’"listening" and "speaking" skills and their "competence to think critically in English as well as hold discussions in English, without using Japanese," as stated in DP 2. Overall objectives are for students "to obtain comprehensive English proficiency" and "to engage in logical discussions using English," as stated in the CP.
授業の形式?方法と履修上の注意
/Teaching method and Attention the course
We will spend the first half of the class working on self study chosen activities for individuals, pairs or small groups. Students will focus on listening or speaking skill development. We will be actively developing good habits of self study, thinking about maintaining and improving English knowledge and skills after college. Students will reflect of this in an ongoing class journal. In the second half of class, we will work together on a task or activity for the entire class.

Students will each listen to a podcast episode from a podcast series they have chosen related to something they are interested in. They will write a summary and reaction in their class journals. They will also prepare for the group task or activity.
