授業の目的?内容
/Course Objectives
This course focuses on emproving students' "reading," "listening" and "speaking" slkills and their "competence to think critically in English as well as hold discussions in English, without using Japanese,"  as stated in DP 2. Overall objectives are for students to aquire the basics of "written receptive skills" and "oral receptive skills and productive skills," as stated in the CP.

/Teaching method and Attention the course
Classes are taught in person Students are expected to participate in each class actively and voluntarily, fully prepared to engage in various activities, such as rapid reading and close reading trainings, group discussions and presentations, while working with topical subjects found in the reading materials provided. Feedback on assignments during the class period will basically be given during class.
事前?事後学修の内容
/Before After Study
Before each class, students are required to go through pre-assigned reading material, understand the theme(s) or topic(s), and get ready to verbalize their thoughts and ideas about it (them)  in English (one to two hours).  Ater class, by reviewing what students have learned , they'll get a deeper understanding of written and spoken English and be able to communicate your ideas more confidently than ever before (one to two hours).

3 Presentation regarding the theme Sharing thoughts on the topic with classmates (mini presentation) Read the designated chapter in the textbook for next class, with a critical perspective. One hour
4 Chapter 3: The Food Crazy Japanese?! Reading Unit 3: 食 and discuss the topics shown in the textbook with classmates. Review of reading material(s) and presentation preparation for next class - One to two hours
