授業の目的?内容 ／Course Objectives	As societies have become more “globalized” in the recent years, we often come across the term “global studies.” Despite such common usage of the term, it is not an easy task to define global studies. What is the definition of global studies? This course aims to tackle this challenging task. It is designed to help students enhance their knowledge and understanding of global studies. As shown in the course schedule, the course begins with a basic explanation of the term global studies. Students will be exposed to various aspects of the subject throughout the semester. After focusing on the theoretical aspects of global studies, the focus then will be placed on various issues related to the subject to further enhance the understanding of global studies. 本講義は、英語学科の教育課程の編成?実施の方針（CP）や学位授与方針（DP）が示す「英語の運用能力を養成し、英語圏の言語?文学?文化?社会?国際関係などを理解するための専門知識を身につけた、国際的視野に立つ教養人を育成する」ことを目的とする講義である。また、グローバル社会コースの科目として「グローバル社会に関する専門的知識を修得し、背景事情や諸課題について的確に理解、分析し、自らの見解を効果的に表現する能力を身に付け」ることを目的とする。
授業の形式?方法と履修上の注意 ／Teaching method and Attention the course	This course is taught in English. It is an ideal course for students who wish to learn global studies in English. Feedbacks will be given verbally and or in writing whenever deemed necessary. Porta II and University Web-Mail System will be used as the essential tools of communication. Students are expected to prepare an appropriate Internet environment to use these tools constantly. Including the first class, classes will be conducted in a face-to-face environment only. 科目の特性上、授業は対面形式のみで行います。
事前?事後学修の内容 ／Before After Study	Students are expected to prepare for each class by reviewing lecture and class discussion notes. Students are expected to spend around 2 hours for this process.

評価方法 ／Evaluation	Evaluations will be made according to midterm examination (50%), and final examination (50%). Details will be explained by the instructor in the first class.
