授業の目的?内容
/Course Objectives
As the process of globalization deepens, various global communities are formed and some have grown so large that they are even recognized as global societies. Whether they are recognized as global communities or societies, one feature they have in common is that they share certain common values. Deriving from these values, certain cultures are formed and these cultures that share such common values can be recognized as global cultures

This course describes and explains this link between global societies and global cultures. In other words, it examines the process in which various global cultures influence the formation process of global societies. In particular, the focus will be placed on the cultural influence of music, food, and commodities towards the making of societies at the global level.

本講義は、英語学科の教育課程の編成?実施の方針(CP)や学位授与方針(DP)が示す「英語の運用能力を養成し、英語圏の言語?文学?文化?社会?国際関係などを理解するための専門知識を身につけた、国際的視野に立つ教養人を育成する」ことを目的とする講義である。また、グローバル社会コースの科目として「グローバル社会に関する専門的知識を修得し、背景事情や諸課題について的確に理解、分析し、自らの見解を効果的に表現する能力を身に付け」ることを目的とする。
授業の形式?方法と履修上の注意
/Teaching method and Attention the course
This course is taught in English. It is an ideal course for students who wish to learn some aspects of global studies in English.

Feedbacks will be given verbally and or in writing whenever deemed necessary.

Porta II and University Web-Mail System will be used as the essential tools of communication. Students are expected to prepare an appropriate Internet environment to use these tools constantly.

Including the first class, classes will be conducted in a face-to-face environment only.

Evaluations will be made according to midterm examination (50%), and final examination (50%). Details will be explained by the instructor in the first class.

7 Midterm Examination/ Interim Course Review Midterm examination to be conducted and Interim review of the course up to this point to be made.
