授業の目的?内容 ／Course Objectives	The term “international exchange” is regarded as one of the key terms in describing and explaining the phenomenon of globalization. As the process of globalization advances, the significance of this term is ever-increasing. This course is designed to help students enhance their knowledge and understanding of the term 'international exchange" so that they could understand and use this term adequately in the age of globalization. In particular, the focus will be placed on Japan’s activities related to international exchange from several perspectives. The main reason for focusing on Japan’s activities is because Japan is regarded as one of the successful countries in using these activities to achieve its international goals and interests. 本講義は、英語学科の教育課程の編成?実施の方針（CP）や学位授与方針（DP）が示す「英語の運用能力を養成し、英語圏の言語?文学?文化?社会?国際関係などを理解するための専門知識を身につけた、国際的視野に立つ教養人を育成する」ことを目的とする講義である。また、グローバル社会コースの科目として「グローバル社会に関する専門的知識を修得し、背景事情や諸課題について的確に理解、分析し、自らの見解を効果的に表現する能力を身に付け」ることを目的とする。
授業の形式?方法と履修上の注意 ／Teaching method and Attention the course	This course is taught in English. It is an ideal course for students who wish to learn the essence of international exchange in English. Feedbacks will be given verbally and or in writing whenever deemed necessary. Porta II and University Web-Mail System will be used as the essential tools of communication. Students are expected to prepare an appropriate Internet environment to use these tools constantly. Including the first class, classes will be conducted in a face-to-face environment only. 科目の特性上、授業は対面形式のみで行います。履修の際は十分に注意してください。
事前?事後学修の内容 ／Before After Study	Students are expected to prepare for each class by reviewing relevant materials provided by the instructor. Students are expected to spend around 2 hours for this process.

評価方法 ／Evaluation	Evaluations will be made according to midterm examination (50%), and final examination (50%). Details will be explained by the instructor in the first class.

3	Japan - U.S. Political Exchange: Overview	Government level political exchange between the two countries will be discussed.
4	Japan - U.S. Political Exchange: Discussion	Local level political exchange between the two countries will be examined.
5	Japan - U.S. Political Exchange: Review	People-to-people level political exchange between the two countries will be explained.
6	Japan - U.S. Economic Exchange: Overview	Government level economic exchange between the two countries will be discussed.
7	Japan - U.S. Economic Exchange: Discussion	Local level economic exchange between the two countries will be examined.
8	Midterm Examination/ Interim Course Review	Midterm examination to be conducted and Interim review of the course up to this point to be made.
9	Japan - U.S. Cultural Exchange: Overview	Basics related to cultural exchange between the two countries will be discussed.

11	Japan - U.S. Cultural Exchange: Review	Cultural exchange focusing on sports.
12	Japan's Exchange Activities with Europe	Comprehensive explanation of international exchange between Japan and Europe.

14	Final Examination/ Course Review	Final Examination to be conducted and concluding remarks for the course to be made.
