授業の目的?内容 /Course Objectives |
This class will focus on practical listening skills for academic purposes. Emphasis will be placed on the use of strategies that will make you a better listener, a better note-taker, and a better learner. These skills will be useful, not just in English, but in any language and in ALL of your classes. While exploring various topics we will learn to listen for important lecture information and to take notes effectively. We will use information from real English lectures to hold discussions and give presentations. Evaluation will be based on class performance, homework, quizzes, and examinations. Main skill objectives: By the end of the course students should be able to, among others: ?make headway towards understanding the main ideas of academic lectures, talks, interviews, and discussions. ?understand how supporting ideas are related to main ideas ?take effective notes as they listen ?use listening strategies to aid comprehension, engage and participate in discussions and presentations |

授業の形式?方法と履修上の注意 /Teaching method and Attention the course |
Students will spend most of their time completing listening activities, in addition to other activities using different skills including speaking and writing. The course will also make use of the Learning Management System (LMS) known as Manaba. Students will use the LMS to download and upload homework assignments and other activities. Students will also be able to receive feedback on their assignments on the LMS. Students are encouraged to bring an electronic dictionary to every class. |
