4.募集要件

博士の学位の取得者、もしくは博士号と同等の研究業績を持つ者。
文化研究（カルチュラルスタディーズ、社会学、社会言語学等）に関する優れた研究業績があること。
本学科の英語教育プログラムに積極的にコミットできること。
学業面のみならず学生生活全般に関する学生指導に熱意を持っていること。
高等教育機関（大学、大学院）またはそれに準ずる機関で教歴があること。（文化研究についての専門科目の教歴があることが望ましい。）
国籍は問わない。ただし、日本語でも英語でも文書の理解と作成ができ、日本語で開催される教授会や委員会等の大学運営業務が支障なくできること。

5.担当予定科目および職務内容

担当予定科目
- 学科専門科目の「グローバル教養」に該当する領域横断的なトピックに関する以下のいずれか、もしくはその両方の講義。（こちらの教授言語はすべて英語による。）
  1．「Special Topics in Japanese Studies」（日本のポピュラーカルチャーに関連するテーマを含め、現代日本社会?文化事象についての理解を深める講義）。
  2．「多文化共生論」（文化的多様性にまつわる事象や問題をグローバルな視野で捉えつつ、理解を深める講義）。
- 「演習」（着任２年目以降）。
- 英語基礎科目（「基礎演習I/II」や「Reading Skills for Academic Purposes I/II」など）。
- 英語応用科目（「英語専門講読a/b」など）。
週５コマ以上の授業科目を担当する。
大学?学部?学科が主催する各種行事の企画?運営、各種委員会の校務、短期留学の引率等の国際交流活動、本学科の広報活動、特色ある学科プログラムの構築への貢献などが求められる。

6.給与待遇

給与: 獨協大学就業規則およびその他の諸規程による
- 准教授（モデル給、35歳）：基本給（月額） 462,100円
- 専任講師（モデル給、30歳）：基本給（月額）383,500円
- 諸手当（扶養、住宅、超過授業、入試等）
- 個人研究費（41万円）などは別途支給
- 賞与：本学規程による
勤務時間: 専門業務型裁量労働制の適用あり

通勤費: 本学規程により実費支給（上限あり）
社会保険: 日本私立学校振興?共済事業団
雇用保険: 労災保険に加入
定年: 70歳

The Department of English at Dokkyo University is seeking candidates for a full-time tenured teaching position in the Department's "Global Liberal Arts" division, who will oversee one or both courses, "Special Topics in Japanese Studies" and "Multicultural Symbiosis."

4.Qualifications

A doctoral degree or research achievements equivalent to a doctoral degree
A strong record of research in studies of culture (cultural studies, sociology, sociolinguistics, etc.)
The ability to actively commit to the Department's English education program
Enthusiasm for mentoring students, not only academically but in all aspects of student life　
Teaching experience at a college, university, or graduate school, or equivalent academic institution (preferably in the specialized subjects specified above).
The ability to understand and to prepare documents in both Japanese and English, and to perform university administrative duties and actively participate in faculty meetings and committee meetings held in Japanese without difficulty. Nationality is not a factor of consideration.

5.Courses and Duties

Courses to be taught
- One or both of the following lecture courses, falling under the Department's "Global Liberal Arts" division of specialized subjects. (The classes will be conducted entirely in English.)
  1. "Special Topics in Japanese Studies" (Aimed to deepen understanding of phenomena related to contemporary Japanese society and culture including popular culture)
  2. "多文化共生論" (Multicultural Symbiosis）(Aimed to deepen understanding of phenomena and issues related to cultural diversity with a global perspective）
- "Seminar" (From the second year of employment)
- Introductory English Courses ("Introductory Seminar I/II," "Reading Skills for Academic Purposes I/II," etc.)
- Advanced English Courses ("Advanced Thematic Reading A/B," etc.)
A teaching load of a minimum of five class periods per week
The successful applicant will be required to perform various University, Faculty, and Department duties, including to serve on committees, to plan and manage events, to engage in international exchange activities such as leading short-term study abroad programs, to assist in public relations activities, and to contribute to the creation of distinctive departmental programs.

6.Employment Conditions and Compensation

Salary: In accordance with Dokkyo University employment guidelines and regulations
- Associate Professor (model salary, age 35): 462,100 yen/month
- Full-time Lecturer (model salary, age 30): 383,500 yen/month
- Bonus: Based on University regulations
- Individual research expenses (410,000 yen) etc. will be paid separately.
- Other Benefits (support, housing, extra-teaching, entrance examinations, etc.)
Working hours: The discretionary labor system for professional work applies. Dedicated work hours are 6 hours and 20 minutes per day, 38 hours per week (Monday through Saturday).
Commuting expenses: Actual transportation fees are paid in accordance with University regulations (with an upper limit).
Social security services: Eligible for social security services (Japan Private Schools Mutual Aid Corporation).
Employment insurance: Industrial Accident Compensation Insurance.
Retirement age: 70 years old (the end of March following the 70th birthday).

Three (3) major research publications (PDF files are acceptable for papers. For books (monographs), send one original copy to the address below. Master's theses are not accepted). At least one of the three publications must be written in English. In addition, for each publication, submit a written summary of approximately 800 Japanese characters for works in English or 600 English words for works in Japanese.
