Orientation

All new exchange students are required to attend our mandatory orientation sessions, which are held before and after their arrival in Japan. The orientation sessions are designed to provide newly enrolled exchange students with important information regarding their studies and their stay in Japan.

The sessions cover topics such as the following.

Before arrival in Japan (online)

  • Information on pre-and-post arrival procedures
  • Japanese placement test and Zoom interview with a Japanese instructor

After arrival in Japan

  • In-person orientation by the International Center
  • Guidance on the Japanese Language Program by the Japanese Language Office
  • Guidance on the course registration by the Academic Affairs Office
  • Online guidance on university housing by a housing management company

During the orientation period, all exchange students are required to go through:

  • Medical check-up under Dokkyo University instruction
  • Registration for residency and National Health Insurance at Soka city office
  • Opening a bank account (Yuucho bank) - for those who receive scholarship

A detailed orientation schedule will be sent about one month prior to the orientation. Your Dokkyo buddy will help you with the procedures at the Soka city office.
