Accommodation

Wherever you are, it is always nice to have somewhere you can call home. Dokkyo University wants to ensure that its exchange students feel at home here in Japan, so it guarantees accommodation. Information on housing applications is provided in a timely manner.

Dokkyo University provides off-campus housing for exchange students, who will be required to live there during their term of study at Dokkyo University. The housing is an apartment building located near the university. Depending on the area and the size of the room, the rent varies from 60,000 yen to 80,000 yen per month, which includes utilities and Wi-Fi internet access. Meals are not included.

You will be accommodated in one of the following options:

?a three-bedroom apartment shared with two other roommates
?a twin room in University Housing
?a single room in University Housing

Each bedroom is furnished with a desk, a bed and an air-conditioner. The shared area is equipped with a dining table, an air-conditioner, a refrigerator, a microwave, an electric kettle, a gas stove, and a washing machine.
The apartment building is a public residential building. It is not exclusively for students. You will need to follow the same rules as other residents. There is a mandatory online housing guidance by the apartment management company, where housing rules and how to pay rent, etc. are explained.

When assigning rooms, we try to accommodate preferences based on the availability of space, but we cannot guarantee that specific requests and preferences will always be met.

Preparation for Residing in University Housing&;

You will need to pay your rent and other relevant charges after your arrival in Japan.

• Moving-in fee: 11,000yen/semester or 22,000yen/two semesters + 4,400yen (bedpad)
  This fee covers the provision of a room cleaning service by a cleaning company when you move out and the provision of maintenance service by an apartment management company. This fee is non-refundable and paid only when you move in.
  <Green Avenue Yatsuka and Comfort Matsubara>
  You will need to pay this fee together with your rent for the first month (pro-ranted) and the following month in cash at a convenience store using the Smart Pit payment service.
  <Dokkyo Global House>
  You will need to pay this fee together with your rent for the first month (pro-ranted) and the following month by credit card.
  
  The total amount to be paid will be announced individually prior to your arrival in Japan.

• Bed comforter (kake-buton) and pillow
  No comforters or pillows are provided in the apartment bedrooms. Please provide your own comforter and pillows. You can buy a comforter and pillow yourself near your apartment, and your buddy will help you shop on the day you move in.

• Kitchenware and other household items
  <Green Avenue Yatsuka and Comfort Matsubara>
  You will need to get kitchenware and other household items yourself. You can visit a hundred-yen shop in your neighborhood to buy many types of products for everyday use.
  <Dokkyo Global House>
  Basic kitchenware is provided in share kitchen.
